EBN Academy is an alternative provision school in Birmingham committed to transforming the lives of young people aged 13–16 who thrive through creative, practical, and vocational learning. We are seeking a passionate and resilient Vocational Teacher to join our dedicated team — with the ability to teach Health & Social Care to BTEC standards and support learners in achieving their full potential.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver an engaging and inclusive Health & Social Care curriculum (BTEC standards), ensuring lessons are practical, purposeful, and relevant to students’ future aspirations.
- Teach across a broad vocational curriculum, inspiring students to link learning with real-world applications.
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners, encouraging progress and personal development.
- Support students’ academic and personal growth through effective tutoring, mentoring, and pastoral care.
- Contribute to the continuous development of curriculum materials, assessment strategies, and teaching approaches.
- Play an active role in the wider life of the school — supporting enrichment, behaviour, and community engagement initiatives.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching vocational qualifications (ideally BTEC Health & Social Care or similar).
- Has strong classroom management skills and a creative approach to engaging reluctant learners.
- Demonstrates commitment to inclusive education and personalised learning.
- Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is passionate about supporting young people to re-engage with education and achieve success.
- Holds (or is working towards) QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working in alternative provision, SEN, or SEMH settings would be an advantage but is not essential — we provide strong induction and ongoing CPD.
We Offer
- A supportive and collaborative team culture.
- Small class sizes and a focus on building strong relationships.
- Access to high-quality CPD and professional development opportunities.
- A chance to make a real difference to the lives of young people.
- Well established protocols and systems
- The opportunity to work in this innovative and forward thinking Multi Academy Trust
- Voluntary health care plan
- Employee assistance scheme to include free and confidential advice, information and counselling, 24 hour GP Line
- Cycle to work scheme
- Access to TPS Scheme
- We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.

including: enhanced DBS; Prohibition check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work
